John coached Washington Township High School (WTHS) from 1972 to 1998 where the Minutemen won two South Jersey championships, five Olympic Conference titles, the Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic championship and Courier Post Cup in 1993.
In 1993, Bush was named The Philadelphia Inquirer and Hotstover's Coach of the Year, 1998 March of Dimes High School Coach of the Year and 1993–94 WTHS Teacher of the Year. For Bush, this is his third hall of fame induction. In 1988, his alma mater Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, named him to its Athletic Hall of Fame and in 1994, he became a member of the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame. He is a 1966 Deptford High School graduate.
As a member of Carpenter Cup coaching staffs, three of his teams won championships. Seventeen of his WTHS players have been drafted by major league teams.
John lives in Wenonah, NJ.
